PMQs
The issue: Sir George,

I thought you asked an excellent question at Prime Minister's Questions concerning the increase of accountability the legislature should have over the executive and the fact that Parliament will sit for the fewest number of days since the war.

It is a pity the PM did not answer the question other than to say he thought Parliament had sufficient days to do all of its work. If this is so, why do we keep reading that there is a problem with the timetable and fitting in all that needs to be debated? Why are some debates cut short and "talked out", e.g. the move to BST throughout the year?

My response:
Many thanks for your email, and I agree that the Prime Minister didn’t really have an answer to the question which I put to him. I expect MPs would not mind sitting for fewer days, so long as the Government’s legislative programme was correspondingly reduced. However, what has happened has been that the time has been reduced, while the number of Bills has been increased!
